Digital Application Review

P.A.S.S is a new app created by blank canvas publishing that stands for pro audio social stream. It's described on iTunes as the "worlds first dedicated mobile social network for the professional audio and audiovisual industries". This app allows users to publicize their work, follow industry leaders, find users and new businesses in local areas, direct messaging.

PASS can also be used in a diverse range of languages and is packed with training videos on the audio recording business. The app is still under its first version and has not seem to have been reviewed or used by a very large population yet. The interface of the app looks and feels a lot like Facebook, but instead of a blue heading, PASS uses a less striking silver base color.

This application is really easy and fast to navigate. It redirected me to a lot of really interesting videos on youtube, anything from long lectures to short sound effect clips. In this sense, it really does have a range of styles and sounds that audio enthusiasts can stay entertained for hours. On the other hand, there does not seem to be many people that are actually using this app yet. It took me a while to finally find someone to follow, someone that I recognized either in real life or in the professional audio realm.

This app would be useful to keep a timeline of audio pieces and audio happenings 'in the news'. Users have the ability to post message on their board which is like the central news feed that everyone will see, or you can post a photo, video, or embedd a link. Posting to the board also gives you the option of sharing to twitter and Facebook.

PASS also has a feature where you can search hashtags to discover key interests. Pro Audio is an internationally used application that appears to be popular in parts of Asia and the Middle East. There are a magazine and education function for this app that has lots of in-depth information and interviews with people in the audio and professional sound industry. With PASS one can explore different users by sectors like A/V, educator, or broadcast. This app would be more helpful for people who want to break into this industry, to get advice and see what professionals are working on, more so than artists who are already collaborating and experimenting with their own sound creations.
