The casowary still lives today, and is considered one of the close relatives of the dinosaurs. They are native to the rainforests of New Guinea and nearby smaller islands, and northeastern Australia. While some may think of emus and ostriches when seeing a casowary, their deep-sounding call has scientists wonder whether their vocalization might lead to any revelations about the communication of dinosaurs.
